Solar Panel Project for Sustainable Energy Generation

UWC Dilijan College has taken a significant step towards sustainable energy generation with the installation of 183 solar panels on the roof of its campus warehouses. Each panel boasts a capacity of 400 watts, contributing to the overall goal of reducing the college’s carbon footprint. With the abundant sunshine in Armenia, this innovative project harnesses the power of solar energy to provide a substantial portion of the campus’s electricity needs.
Armenia’s favorable climate, featuring an average of 270 to 300 sunny days per year, presents an ideal environment for solar energy utilization. The installation of solar panels at UWC Dilijan College capitalizes on this advantage, tapping into the abundant sunlight to generate clean and renewable electricity. In July of the previous year, the solar panels covered over 10% of the campus’s energy consumption, demonstrating their effectiveness.
Even during the winter months, when sunlight is less abundant, the solar panels continue to contribute to the college’s energy needs. During this period, the panels still cover approximately 4% of the campus’s electricity consumption, highlighting their year-round sustainability and reducing reliance on traditional power sources.
The solar panel project not only aligns with the college’s commitment to environmental sustainability but also proves to be a financially sound investment. With a projected payback period of around 5 years, the initial investment is expected to be recouped relatively quickly. Moreover, the panels come with a warranty of 25 years, ensuring long-term performance and reliability.
